On November 16, 2020, Professor Wan Decheng, the director of the Center for Computational Hydrodynamics of Ship and Ocean Engineering (CMHL) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the chief scientist of the national key R&D program, and a highly cited Chinese scholar in the field of ocean engineering, was invited to our institute for academic exchange. Dean Gong Zheng and Professor Xue Mian presided over the academic report meeting.

Professor Wan Decheng gave an academic report entitled Independent Research and Development of CAE Software for Complex Flow Field of Ship and Sea Equipment. Aiming at the present situation, problems and challenges of independent research and development of core software for complex flow field and performance analysis of ship and sea equipment, the independent research and development scheme of CAE software for complex flow field of ship and sea equipment was introduced. Taking the research results of advanced numerical methods of ship and ocean engineering hydrodynamics, independent development of CAE software and application demonstration of hydrodynamics CAE software in Shanghai Jiao Tong University (CMHL) in recent ten years as examples, shows the practical application and verification effect of self-developed CAE software, including comprehensive performance prediction of ships under large waves, coupled motion response of internal and external flow of LNG ships and slamming load calculation, and the simulation of ship self-navigation on waves, multi-ship system interaction, super-large floating body and mooring, VIM and VIV of platform, hydrodynamics and pneumatics of multiple floating fans, the slamming effect of dam failure on elastic obstacles, and the simulation calculation of bubble drag reduction in turbulent boundary layer of flat plate. Before the report, Dean Gong introduced thegeneral information of the college to Professor Wan. After the report, Professor Wan had a heated discussion with the teachers and students attending the meeting, and achieved good communication results.
