报告人简介:
Dr. Bas van Maren studies fine sediment transport in estuarine, coastal and riverine environments. He holds an MSc in Physical Geography and a PhD degree on delta morphodynamics, both from Utrecht University. He is currently employed at Deltares and Delft University of Technology. His main expertise is on quantifying the impact of human interventions on the dynamics of tides, sediment transport and morphology, and providing innovative solutions to mitigate these impacts. Interventions often lead to a shortage or surplus of sediment, resulting in ecological, financial or safety problems. Dr. van Maren addresses issues such a reduction in sediment loads by upstream dams, deepening of access channels, and maintenance dredging from ports using sophisticated numerical models. His experience covers the globe, but is concentrated on the Netherlands, China, Vietnam, Singapore and the United States. He has (co-)authored over 40 scientific publications, and is editor with the Journal of Hydraulic Engineering.
