Professor Ian Townend from the UK was invited to teach an English course “The art of Modelling” from June 1st to 10th. The course was for senior master students and Ph.D. candidates in College of Harbor, Coastal and Offshore Engineering. Started from an example, the course first deepened our understanding of modelling; then the basic ideas of modelling were introduced by a generalized model; followed by group discussions, the steps of model set-up were fully elaborated; and the course ended with the introduction of the principle and applications of ASMITA and model set-up practice.
