    Coastal Resources and Environment is a self-founded second-level subject subordinate to the first-level discipline Hydraulic Engineering. The subject focuses  on the special research in resources and environment of coastal zone and estuarine delta areas, penetrates with Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering, Physical Oceanography and Science of Environment and Resources Protection Law.

 

    The subject has the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Coastal Hazards and Protection of the Ministry of Education. Currently the faculty member includes 14 professors, 23 associate professors, 41 lecturers, among whom there are 9 doctoral supervisors, 40 master supervisors. Since the "11th Five-year Plan", we have undertaken scientific research tasks including Survey of Jiangsu Coastal Zone and Islands supported by 908 Special Funds and many provincial and ministerial research in coastal ocean environment with the total funds amounting to 20 million RMB, published 6 monographs and textbooks and more than 400 academic papers.

 

    The major career choices are the oceanic administration bureaus, harbour administration bureaus and coastal resources development sections, working in the areas of planning, surveying, designing, construction, management, teaching, scientific research.

 

Training Requirements

    The subject cultivates high-level talents in Coastal Resources and Environment, with solid basic theories and specific knowledge, knowing the frontier of theoretical research and engineering technology, and having strong scientific research ability.

Credit Requirements

    The total credits required is 30, with 18 credits for degree curriculum, 9 credits for non-degree curriculum and 3 for teaching practice.
