From November 20 to December 11, 2021, Hohai University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University successfully held a series of online exchange activities with the support of exchange program between universities, primary and secondary school teachers and students in Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland (National high-level talent special support plan) funded by Ministry of Education. The event was jointly hosted by Hohai University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, organized by the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of Hohai University, College of Harbor, Coastal and Offshore Engineering of Hohai University, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, co-organized by The State Key Laboratory of Hydrology, Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering of Hohai University, the Key Laboratory of Coastal Disasters and Protection of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Coastal Marine Resources Development and Environmental Safety of Jiangsu Province and the Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Disipline Innovation on Coastal Resources Exploitation and Security.

More than 100 undergraduate and graduate representatives from College of Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering of Hohai University, College of Civil and Transportation Engineering of Hohai University and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University attended the event. The well-known experts from Hohai University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanjing Normal University and The Writers' Association of Jiangsu Province introduced the history, humanities and folk culture of Nanjing, shared their career planning experience, reported the latest progress in the construction of scientific research platform, and gave an account of the academic frontier trends and the practice of major national projects in the field of water conservancy and civil engineering. During the event, online academic exchange activities between graduate students of the two universities were also carried out. 

Through this exchange and sharing, it has promoted the coordination and cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong in the field of academic research, practice and innovation, enhanced the mutual understanding and deepened the brotherhood between teachers and students of the mainland and Hong Kong.
